Dinacharya, or ayurvedic daily rituals, have been used for thousands of years to cleanse the body, prevent the buildup of harmful substances that hinder digestion and metabolism. They also aid in preserving the sense organs, keep the mind clear and nourish the body. Practising theses routines every morning is a great start to the day and gives you a feeling of stability and steadiness as well as maintaining health and longevity.
These rituals generally commence shortly after rising in the morning to prepare the body for the day and include the use of collyrium, smoking, nasal drops, tongue scraping, gargling, external oleation, bathing, perfumes, ornaments and cleansing
The following daily rituals can used safely on a daily basis and adopted in the same order as presented upon rising for best results. Any contra-indications are included.
You can choose as many or as few as you like. However it is important to keep in mind that consistent regular practice is most beneficial. There are many dinacharya rituals that have been mentioned in classical Ayurvedic texts however the following have been included for their practicality and suitability for modern lifestyle.
